Even though it is probably going to be a terrible disappointment, I am looking forward to seeing The Golden Compass. Today I did the quiz on the website about daemons. Here's mine:
I have never read the book and am unsure if I should do so before the movie comes out (because then I might be disappointed in the movie, or I would know everything that was going to happen beforehand). What is your advice?
PS -- the movie may be a bad, but it's certainly a very classy website.
Boo! I got a golden looking, blackfaced gibbon named Albus. It may not be the same kind of monkey, but it certainly looks creepily like Mrs. Coulter's daemon. This displeases me. Ben got an ocelot named...Trina.
ooh! I think those are great. I don't think Mrs. Coulter had a Gibbon. P.P. would ahve said I think since gibbon is usch a great word. You are CLEARLY superior to Mrs. Coulter. I am not even sure that I know what an ocelot is! Bets got a chimpanzee named Apollonius.
Ocelots are largish wildcats, like lynxes. Ben was pretty happy with the species, but his opinion on the name Trina was as follows: *profane adjective* *politically incorrect term for a developmentally disabled person*
I recommend reading the book. It is really very good. It might spoil the movie, but I like having an uninfluenced mind to imagine as I will when I read, and sometimes films prevent that, and instead you imagine in the pre-imagined world. Which is clearly an inferior way to do it.
